Ivey House

Especially for nature lovers, the Everglades National Park is a must. The night in the little village of Everglades City is really worth it because you can enjoy the peaceful nature before the crowds of tourists enter the trails and boardwalks in the park. The Ivey House has established itself as a sustainable eco-lodge as the first address in town. In addition to the main entrance, there is a flat ramp onto the 2 m high ground level – established against floodings. The pool in the courtyard is covered against the pesky mosquito swarms during the rainy season with a mosquito net.
The rooms are large, tiled, and simply furnished but entirely accessible. The breakfast was really, really great. Although the butter was packaged in plastic knobs, but the jam there was actually from glasses and cutlery was also made of metal (!) – unusual in the States. We felt very comfortable and would go back anytime. (16.05.2013)
