For those who want to escape from the hustle of Kuta or Sanur, I can highly recommend the chalets of Maso Christian. The property is located on the hills of Canggu about 45 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Due to the height, there’s always a pleasant wind. The view over the garden and the surrounding rice fields is marvelous. The owner Christian – a wheelchair user himself – designed the four rooms according to his ideas and let built them completely wheelchair accessible. The swimming pool with salty water is also equipped with a flat ramp, the shallow steps allow you to get in and out of the wheelchair at different levels.
Each room is designed for two people. The bathroom has a toilet with a handrail, a step-less shower, and mobile sinks at two different heights. The bed has a wide wooden frame, which could cause problems for some wheelchair users. With a pillow, you can compensate for the different levels of the mattress. In addition, personal assistants of Christian are also available.
His wife Anita cooks delicious Balinese food, and for breakfast, we’ve got freshly baked bread and croissants. On request, she also organizes one-day to multi-day trips around the island of Bali. Also, well-educated assistants are available, who combine you throughout the journey.
Just as a starting point or for the last few days of the Bali trip Maso Christian is definitely the right address.
“I wanted to prove that luxury and accessible design can fit together (Chris, owner of Maso Christian)”. Our resume: it can!
