After several days of safari in the Serengeti National Park, we were looking forward to a relaxing week at the beach. In this regard, Urua Bay really is the best choice. The beach promenade is out of stone, so you can drive along with a wheelchair. To the sandy beach, there is a steep ramp. As my wheelchair wheels don’t tolerate sand, I preferred to swim in the large swimming pool. There are stairs into the water. The bungalows are furnished like little apartments. Six of them have wide doors and a step-less shower. The management just ordered a new beach wheelchair and shower chairs for Zanzibar. Our suggestions for the rooms and the facility were also very welcome.
The only downer is the sometimes poor service: Orders are forgotten or incorrectly placed, and not considered special requests. The management promised improvements. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay to the fullest, also because of the really great trip to a spice farm and to Stone Town.
