The dive center lies at the beach of the Steigenberger Hotel Hurghada – one of the top venues at the red sea. Divemasters have different nationalities like Egyptian, German, and Russian. Normally the dive trip starts at 8 am and includes two dives at different reefs until the afternoon. Lunch is on the boat, basic but delicious. The boat is not really equipped for wheelchair users, but the crew is. So they gave me a hand, whenever I needed help. With a big rope around my body, they lifted me out of the water onto the boat.
I also attended a scalability divers course, which was arranged especially for me. So now I can dive together with my sister – nearly – without any help from others. Well, somebody has to get me out of the water again, but that’s all. Although the Steigenberger seems to be a little posh, the guys of the Illios Dive Center are not!
