Jardin de Majorelle, Marrakesh, Marocco

The Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech is one of the most visited sites in Morocco and can easily be explored by wheelchair. It took French painter Jacques Majorelle (1886-1962) forty years of passion and dedication to create this enchanting garden in the heart of the “Ochre City”. Later the designer Yves Saint Laurent bought the garden 1980 and saved it from becoming a hotel complex. He renotaved it carfefully and used it as an retreat and source of inspiration.
Along stoned pathways you see hundreds of exotic plants and can hear the chirping of numerous birds who come here to take refuge. The museum in the middle of the garden was the former painter’s studio of Yves Saint Laurent. Today it explains the culture and fashion of the Berberian people. Afterwards a short rest in the shady open air garden café with drinks and food makes you fit for the rest of your sightseeing tour.
