Padangbai in eastern Bali is a small fishing village that only in the morning and afternoon briefly overflowing with tourists when they climb the ferries to the islands in the east. At the beach promenade, you find several middle-class resorts and diving schools. For divers with disabilities, we can highly recommend the Water Worxx Dive Center. The operators David, Peter, and Claudia have years of experience in diving with wheelchair users, they are very flexible and help at any time with pragmatic solutions.
Directly from the beach, no dives are possible. To the nearest reefs, you have to go with a traditional outrigger boat. I was lifted back on board with a tank strap. My sister and I can go diving on our own, but the dive guide David and Peter also dived with absolute beginners with even more worse disabilities than mine – and I can’t maneuver myself underwater at all! We always felt safe and comfortable and had some really nice dives…
